Dear Idaho Candidate. The questionnaire arrived in my mailbox - TopicsExpress

Dear Idaho Candidate. The questionnaire arrived in my mailbox (three days after its stated deadline). It continued, in bold, If you choose not to return [the] questionnaire, you may be assigned a ? rating, which can be interpreted by our membership as indifference, if not outright hostility . . . As a candidate, I have received numerous questionnaires from local and national associations, asking for my stance on various topics, so that they may determine whether to endorse me or donate money to my campaign. For the most part, it has been richly satisfying to respond thoughtfully to the questions posed, addressing concerns and possible solutions to issues, such as the state of Idahos roads and bridges. One organization ended their letter with, Thank you for running for office. We look forward to hearing from you. As far as the question-mark questionnaire, I am not feeling so motivated to respond to an organization who would interpret my non-response (or perhaps crossed wires, lack of a stamp) as outright hostility. If I was in a relationship and a partner said that to me, I would view it as: passive-aggressive, threatening, and unusually sensative. I would wonder, Why the need to start a conversation with a bullying undertone?
