Ventus-2cxa now available with FES Propulsion System (Deutsch weiter unten) On August 12, 2014 Luka Znidarsic, our Slovenian Schempp-Hirth representative and CEO of LZ DESIGN, visited our company in Kirchheim. He brought along his new Ventus-2cxa equipped with an FES (Front Electric Sustainer) and invited us to the Hahnweide airfield where we could have a close look at a new high-end electric propulsion system. The innovative engine plus a foldable propeller are built into the glider’s nose; two batteries are embedded in the fuselage. With each of them weighing 16 kilos, they provide the required electric energy. Our impressions were very positive and were thrilled by the FES concept, in all respects. A convincing system! While the air travel during engine run time is virtually pleasant, our expectations regarding the sustainer’s climb rate and its handling were even excelled. The so performed flights are now a perfect conclusion of our engagement with LZ DESIGN during the past couple of years. We will of course continue to trustfully work together, and with immediate effect we will be offering the production of more such sailplanes: the Ventus-2cxa equipped with LZ DESIGN’s FES propulsion system. First deliveries will already be possible during the soaring season of 2015. Thanks to a great and thorough preparation, the timeline for an EASA certification should not be an issue. Begeisternd einfach und effektiv: FES-Antrieb für Ventus 2cxa jetzt verfügbar Am 12.08.2014 hat unser Schempp-Hirth Vertreter und Chef der Firma LZ DESIGN in Slowenien, Luka Znidarsic mit seinem neuen Ventus-2cxa mit FES in Kirchheim besucht und wir hatten Gelegenheit uns auf der Hahnweide selbst von der Qualität dieses Elektroantriebes zu überzeugen. Der Elektromotor und der Faltpropeller werden bei diesem System in der Nase des Flugzeuges eingebaut. Die elektrische Energie liefern 2 Akkus mit jeweils 16 kg Gewicht, die im Rumpf untergebracht werden. Unsere Eindrücke waren absolut positiv und haben uns begeistert. In allen Punkten konnte uns dieses FES Antriebskonzept überzeugen. Bezüglich des Steigens und des Bedienungskomforts wurden unsere Erwartungen erfreulicherweise noch übertroffen und der Motorflug war geradezu angenehm. Mit diesen Flügen fand unser mehrjähriges Engagement mit der Firma LZ DESIGN seinen gelungenen Abschluss und wird nun durch eine vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit fortgeführt. Wir werden ab sofort den Ventus-2cxa mit dem FES-Antriebssystem der Firma LZ DESIGN anbieten. Auslieferungen werden bereits in der Saison 2015 möglich sein. Dank der guten und detaillierten Vorbereitung sollte eine zeitnahe EASA Zulassung realisierbar sein.
