Dear Jr Barons, I am writing this letter as a follow up to my previous email. It appears I may have rushed to judgment. This evening I received an email from TYFA saying that they have finished their investigation and agree that Cornerstone is in violation of playing an ineligible player. Below, is the email I received. > On Dec 01, 2014 we received a grievance from The Junior Barons organization alleging that the Cornerstone Rookie team used a player that by rule was ineligible to participate in TYFA. The Player in question was of age, was certified in TYFA, but was ineligible because he participated in the Pop Warner season prior to playing in TYFA. > > After receiving the grievance we initiated an investigation to determine if the claim was valid and had merit. > During the course of our due diligence it has been determined by TYFA that The Cornerstone Warriors “Rookie Team” is in violation of rule 3.4.4 “Dual Participation” as it is written. > Policy 3.4.4 – Dual Participation > Based on on our findings it is the determination of TYFA that the following will occur: > · The Cornerstone Rookie Team will be removed from the post season > · Subsequently, their continued membership in TYFA will be reviewed by the Executive Board > · The Jr Barons Rookie team will advance to the Semi-finals that will take place on Dec 6/7, 2014 > This is an unfortunate situation and it is always troublesome when we have to take actions that affect an entire team or organization. > As a side note... the intent of this rule was to mean simultaneous participation which was not violated. By interpreting the rule strictly as written without intent, potentially affects all teams that picked up players that started in another league, quit, and then joined a TYFA team during the course of a TYFA season. > Therefore this rule will be worked on in the off season to eliminate any ambiguity in its writing. > But as for right now, the rule is being applied as it is written. > Although this is very sad for the young men of Cornerstone that worked hard all season. I think TYFA sent a very strong message. DO NOT CHEAT the coach or coaches involved in this are to blame not the boys. //Signed// Gareth
