Dear Knanaya brothers and sisters, This is to share with - TopicsExpress

Dear Knanaya brothers and sisters, This is to share with you all a clarifications and the position of KCCNA based on the recent developments, including a circular by Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath read in the Syro Malabar churches in North America. As expected, the above mentioned circular contains provisions that will: Redefine the meaning of “Knanaya”, which we would respectfully discard since they have no authority or right to do so. The splitting of family units; which is against the fundamental teachings of Catholic Church. Due to the above reasons KCCNA and the Knanaya catholic community vehemently opposes this circular. Our position is that the definition of “Knanaya” is NON-NEGOTIABLE. We will not accept any deviation from our practice since AD345. Accepting the provisions of this circular is suicidal for the entire community, all around the world, not just North America alone, since no Geographical boundaries were stated. KCCNA observes that there is well organized campaign to delegitimize and demonize the Knanaya Catholic identity either for personal gain or due to the ignorance / lack of comprehensive knowledge of Knanaya identity. Either way we will fight to end it and keep our beloved community as endogamous. We are certain that the victory will be ours at the end. We listen to our God Jesus Christ, and only Jesus Christ. KCCNA has initiated several actions against the denial of our rights, and the attempt to water down our endogamous community. As informed previously, KCCNA reiterates again that we will have our 48 hour prayer and vigil (പ്രാർത്ഥനാ യജ്ഞം) and hunger observance (നിരാഹാര/ഉപവാസം), from September 26 to 28 in front of Chicago St.Thomas Syro-malabar cathedral church. We would like to reiterate that our actions are not against any person or any group of people, but against the discriminatory policies of Syro-Malabar Hierarchy against Knanaya community; and the violent attack against Mr. Sabu Chemmalakkuzy and his son Tom. Also we have serious concerns about the false complaint lodged at police by Chicago Syro Malabar authority against several of our community members in Chicago. KCCNA can not accept the statement like the establishment of Kottayam diocese was a pontifical mistake by Mar Angadiyath. The decision with respect to the above action were taken by KCCNA Executive Committee after consultation with all the 20 units affiliated to KCCNA, and their respective Knanaya Samrakshana Samathy (ക്നാനായ സംരക്ഷണ സമതികൾ) Please be aware that there may be various rumors spread by the enemies of the community. We want to assure the community that our decision with respect to our course of action is firm. On behalf of KCCNA we humbly request your prayers and full support in the fight for our survival. God bless Knanaya community Yours in Christ, Tomy Myalkarappurath, President KCCNA, Anto Simon Kandoth, General Secretary KCCNA.
