Dear Licence Holder In December 2013, Elected Members of the Licensing Committee approved the introduction of an enhanced DBS disclosure as a pre-requisite to the grant or renewal of a Hackney carriage driver, private hire driver, Hackney carriage proprietor and private hire operator licence every 3 years. From 1 May 2014 therefore, it is our intention to introduce a rolling programme of DBS checks on licence renewals. This is a huge undertaking as we currently licence just over 5,800 drivers alone. Further guidance and information will be provided to you as & when we require you to undertake your enhanced DBS check. However, in the meantime please visit leeds.gov.uk/taxidbs for background information and frequently asked questions.
