Dear Local Harvest Friends, First of all, thank you for the - TopicsExpress

Dear Local Harvest Friends, First of all, thank you for the outpouring of support we have witnessed over the last 24 hours. We are overwhelmed and humbled by the kind words, the pledges to help, and the way this wonderful community has come together for us. Thank you so much. At this point we are closing in on $40,000 in pledges, almost 1/3 of our goal. We feel renewed energy and if we get through this we are going to redouble our efforts toward building the local food community in St Louis. We dont want to lose the momentum of this campaign, please help spread the word to anyone you can. We now have an IndieGoGo page where pledges can be made: igg.me/at/localharvest/x/1107661 If you can, please share this link on your Facebook page, Twitter account, and email. Pledges can also be made by coming into any of our locations or by calling us at 314-865-5260. Please note that if you made a pledge through our Square account, it will still be processed. We have had many questions about what we will use the money for and how it will keep us open. We will use the money to pay off some pressing debts and to restock the grocery store. The debts are a result of our failed Kirkwood expansion and the dwindling inventory at the grocery store is a result of paying these debts ongoing for the last many months. We know that our businesses will be sound after we reach our goal because they were so strong for so long. If we can get back to where we were pre-Kirkwood, we will be fine. Even with a bad year with declining inventory levels in 2013 we were able to grow at a 5% rate. That has not been enough to offset what we are dealing with every week, though. Another question is how will we weather the redemption of gift certificates starting in 2015. We will get into a stronger position immediately if we reach our goal and then we will operate with these redemptions in mind. We will have the spring and summer and holiday season to prepare - our best times of year. Also, the amount we expect to redeem will not be more of a burden than the debt payments we have been making for the last year. We will be able to weather the redemption period well. Thank you again! We appreciate all of the support. Maddie Earnest & Patrick Horine
