Dear Local Writers, I believe there is still space available - TopicsExpress

Dear Local Writers, I believe there is still space available for participants in the June 20-22 Annual Conference on Creative Writing at University of the Pacific. See more at pacific.edu/Academics/Professional-and-Continuing-Education/Creative-Writing-Conference.html Im sure that you are curious about what topics Ill be covering in my two talks next Saturday. Here they are: 1. Using Social Media and Content Marketing to Build your Author Platform Gone are the days when large publishing houses could be counted upon to “take care of” the marketing of a new book while the author of that book focuses solely on his or her next project. This session will introduce the steps needed for an author to build the platform on which to stand while being seen and heard. Topics will include the author website, the content marketing with a blog, discoverability, and the self-branding outposts of Facebook and especially Twitter. 2. Productivity Lessons from High-Performing Authors and Thought Leaders This session will sample some of the theories and practices of productivity gurus such as David Allen, Seth Godin, and Tim Ferriss. We will discuss maintaining focus, eliminating distractions, and meeting deadlines. Participants in this session will learn the meanings of terms such as GTD, Pomodoro, the Four-Hour Workweek and the 10-Minute Hack. Ironically, Ill be using more of my marketing and platform-building knowledge than anything in particular that I learned while earning that PhD in Poetry. The conference has been organized by Scott Evans, so I bet he could answer any of your questions. My friends Indigo Moor, John Lescroart, and Karen Levy will be among the presenters.
