Dear Lorraine Smith: Wow! It seems like last year went by very quickly, and here it is time for another round of tax preparation. As many of you may have heard, January 20th is the date that has been set by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for accepting 1040 tax returns electronically. For Business tax returns, the start date is set for January 9th, 2015. I would like to thank you for allowing me to prepare your taxes in years past, and hope that you will continue to have confidence in my ability to serve you by preparing your taxes and answering your tax questions. As you are aware, I have always worked to provide good service without having to charge high fees like many tax preparation services are known to do. In order to offset cost that you may encounter, we will continually pay out referral rebates. For any new client that you refer who has a tax return prepared with us, we will pay you $50.00. Please be sure to have them tell me who referred them so that I can either give credit to you on your tax preparation fees, or in the form of cash or check written out to you. Again this year, we will continue working to make the “taxing” experience a little less cumbersome and less stressful. If you would like to send your documents ahead of time so that we can have most of the input prepared before you arrive and then spend time talking about your tax situation you can do that. Fax the documents to 1-708-331-5429. Documents can also be scanned and sent to Dilworthsfaxtax@yahoo. If that method is not comfortable for you, please feel free to bring your documents as before, and we will prepare your tax return during your appointment. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: } Social security card or ITIN number for everyone that appears on your return } Photo I.D. } All 2014 tax documents (W-2, 1099 forms, etc.) } Bank account and routing numbers } Proof of health insurance coverage for persons without a HFS Medical Card. } Copy of your second or final property tax bill paid in 2014 } Records of related expenses. What is coming to Dilworth’s Tax Service Worth! If you worked in 2014, you can claim the Earned Income Tax Credit to reduce your federal income taxes and/or get a bigger refund if: • Your household earnings were less than $46,997 (or $52,427 if married filing jointly) and you were raising three or more qualifying children in your home-you can get up to $6,143! • Your household earnings were less than $43,756 (or $49,186 if married filing jointly) and you were raising two qualifying children in your home-you could get up to $5,460! • Your household earnings were less than $38,511 (or $43,941 if married filing jointly) and you were raising one qualifying child in your home-you could get up to $3,305! If you do not have a health plan, you may be charged a penalty when you file your annual income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service. The penalty increases over the next few years, and you will be charged the greater of these amounts: • 2014 penalty: $95 or 1% of your taxable income • 2015 penalty: $325 or 2% of your taxable income • 2016 penalty: $695 or 2.5% of your taxable income All appointments can be made by calling us at: Annie: 773-297-7322 or Devon: 773-932-3480.
