Dear Members, Students and Friends Wanted to give a quick hello and hope all is well. The weather has been great here on the water. We are having a BBQ November 17th at noon and sail at 2. Its 10 dollars a person. Please let me know if you would like to join us. it’s a great way to go for a little sail and meet other members. I have a couple class ideas and wanted to see if people are interested. 1)Celestial Navigation 2) Sail Trim 3 hour class 3) Team Work building 3 hour class 4) Light Air Sailing 3 hour class 5) Heavy Air Sailing 3 hour class 6) Night Navigation 3 hour class 5) April Race from Newport to San Diego--- First leg is from here to Newport. Second leg is race. Third is San Diego to Catalina to Ventura. Please let me know if you want to do this. Please let me know if you would like to do any of these classes or want other classes. When docking the boats the biggest thing is patience’s. Only go as fast as you want to hit something. Never have your crew jump off the boat. It will push the boat off the dock. Always step off. Never shut the engine off until the boat is secured to the dock. Please put the boat away and hose the boat off. Salt is the biggest killer on boats. So we like to try and keep it off as much as possible. Please check the boat when you leave to make sure guest did not leave anything and also the head is empty. Hook the shore power cord up and turn on and turn batteries off. Make sure sail cover is put back on. The winter time is some of the best sailing times. Bigger seas or wind can come up. it’s a little colder but it is some the best sailing times. The parade of lights in the harbor is December 20th and 21st. It’s great to see the boats all done up and drink some hot drinks. The Ventura boat rentals does do nightly runs in the keys. Really great to see all the houses done up for Christmas. Give them a call and take the family out to watch this. it’s a covered boat so you stay nice and warm. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your sailing experience more enjoyable. Yours Truly Rick Pond
