Dear Minneapolis friends. I have few soapboxes but this hit me this week. Probably more than anyone I LOVE the food trucks. They are so fun and have added so much energy to downtown. I know some places in the skyway have closed recently blaming the food trucks, but I’ve ignored them. Peter’s Grill, love ‘em but their menu probably didn’t appeal much to the current downtown demographic. Taco Johns and Taco Bell, ew, never went there anyway. I will really miss our Friday morning German Hot Dog breakfast burrito. But then I realized, where will we eat this winter? I made sure this week to make a point of hitting my favorite skyway joints, Allies and Daves. I was surprised at how few people were in there even at 12:10! Subway was almost empty, it used to have a line outside down the hallway. So maybe in addition to checking out the cool food truck menus, also make a point and still stop by your favorite indoor restaurant. They are all small businesses and we should support them too.
