Thank you for your email and I have been asked to respond on behalf of Christine Blower, the General Secretary, and I will also reply to the one supply teacher who has emailed us as you suggested in your email. I am sure you will be pleased to learn that we are indeed taking forward several of the suggestions which emerged from the National Supply Conference in July and we are presenting these to the Executive on Wednesday 7th November for approval. This includes a national charter for supply teachers, which will then be sent to Head Teachers and School Representatives with a view to raising the profile of the issues affecting supply teachers and calling on NUT members to support the charter for the fair treatment of supply teachers. There will be an opportunity next year, at the follow up supply conference, to assess the progress that has been made on the issues involved both nationally and locally.
