Dear Mr. Maclean, Your interests, quite simply, have always - TopicsExpress

Dear Mr. Maclean, Your interests, quite simply, have always been to call into question my reputation, my decisions and my integrity. You have never been interested in the truth--you post under an alias, wearing a mask, and you have come after me before as Northern Skunk You have never been trying to make your own mind up (Im reasonably certain I never had your vote), rather you have tried to make others minds up for them through negativity and innuendo. Despite this, I have answered you regularly, honestly and fairly. It is unfortunate that election campaigns tend to pit people against each other, when the truth is that we should all be running together, with the focus on greater democratic good, rather than on conflict. Whatever the outcome tomorrow, seven trustees, eight councillors, and one mayor, will be on the same team and they will rise or fall together, as will those they serve as a result of their ability to cooperate, collaborate and communicate. I trust that voters will vote according to what they know, what they have seen, and how I have behaved during my 5 years in this community and throughout this campaign, rather than on what you have implied or suggested. I have maintained a positive campaign and I remain deeply committed to education, this community and especially to children and youth. I love my job, I have no regrets, and it would be an honour to serve this community as a school trustee in the School District of Mystery Lake. That I refuse to breach an agreement I made, I believe, makes me a stronger trustee, with greater integrity, but it is for every voter to consider the extent to which that is true. My record and my conscience are clean, though I have never claimed to be perfect. One of the earliest quotes I posted was that we rise by lifting others and with one notable exception, I have been lifted greatly by people throughout this campaign, just as I was three years ago and I intend to continue to pay that forward by lifting others, whether I am elected or not. I continue to be deeply humbled and sincerely appreciative of the support, encouragement and feedback Ive received publicly and privately. I have attached one of my favourite poems, by one of my favourite poets, Mary Oliver, as it has often been a healing or grounding touchstone for me, especially during the events following my time as principal and in reading what you have been posting over the past month. Mary Oliver asked the question: Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Me? I will continue to love, to care, to learn, to lead and to teach. I will keep trying to be better while trying to lift those around me. And tomorrow, should the good people of Thompson make it so, I will continue to serve this remarkable community and the infinitely wonderful students within it. Sincerely, Ryan Land P.S. And, dear voters, whether or not you choose to Bring Land Back on October 22nd, just make sure you choose by exercising your democratic right to vote!
