Dear Mr Short I wish to suggest that you give further consideration to my best mate Kenny Young. Having previously applied 103 times he is reluctant to do so on this occasion as he feels he couldn’t face another rejection. Like me he has been a supporter of our club for over 50 years and therefore has a thorough knowledge of its history and its ethos as a caring club. Unlike that black and white shite up the road! During this half century of faithful support through thin and thinner we have enjoyed precious little success, apart from one cup final win in 1973 and a few enjoyable years under the tenure of Peter Reid, when Saint Niall and SuperKev struck the fear of god in all and sundry. Kenny and I spend many hours in the Jolly Sailor Pub poring over fixtures, predicting results and analysing the outcomes. We usually find that our original optimism has been sadly misplaced causing us to feel more and more despondent each week. During these sessions copious amounts of fine malt whisky are consumed, which has the effect of lifting up our hearts so that we return to the next match once again with great expectations. During these sessions Kenny shows his great and extensive knowledge about tactics and the qualities of players we have as well as those we should acquire, such as Messi, to mention only one player who we believe would jump at the chance to join SAFC. Kenny keeps telling me he knows sod all about football but I can tell you this is just false modesty. He knows as much as I do, if not a bit more. He is not very demanding and would be prepared to initially do the job for half what you had to pay Martin and PDC. He is quite prepared also to just be given a seven year contract, as he doesn’t hold any false delusions of grandeur. I therefore implore you not to miss this golden opportunity to hire a man with red and white blood cells flowing through his veins, whose only wish is to see SAFC become once again the great club we were proud of. Yours sincerely Syd (Kenny’s bestest mate) Johnson PS. I am prepared to continue to give him advice when he needs it, for a moderate sum, (£200,000 per week would be acceptable, at first).
