Dear Nepalese Community members, Youth Affairs, NRN-Canada is pleased to invite proposals from Youth (Grade 11 to 4th year Undergrad) for paper presentation to its First Youth Conference on Prosperous Nepal through Youth Leadership and Technology Transformation. We are happy to inform you that Dr. Mahabir Pun, a well-known scholar and Team leader at Nepal Wireless, is the keynote speaker in the program. This conference provides our youth an opportunity to demonstrate their scholastic ability in the community. In addition, listening to Dr. Puns inspirational and creative ideas & expertise will provide us a real learning experience and knowledge transformation to work for the society. Presentation Topics: Presentations may include but are not limited to the following topics of interest: Professional knowledge Network Economic development and infrastructures; Electricity, Transportation, Communication Health, Education, Literacy, and Tourism Science, Engineering, and Technology Socio-political and cultural transformation International migration (Foreign employment, brain drain, and immigration) Abstract Submission Guidelines: Proposal contents: The length of proposal should be between 350-700 words. With a special request to the organizer, however, a presenter can extend his or her proposal up to 1000 words. The reference section will not be counted towards the word limit of the proposal. Review process: A three-member review panel will review the abstract and recommend (max.5) for acceptance with or without review comments on the proposal. Proposal acceptance and rejection: Based on the opinion of the review panel, youth committee reserves the right to accept or reject the proposals. Registration fee: No registration fee. Audio-visual equipment: AV equipment for PowerPoint presentations will be provided. Funding Source: Voluntary contributions of funding through organizations from GTA and beyond, business entrepreneurs, community leaders & well-wishers for conducting the conference will be greatly appreciated. Important information: Proposal submission deadline: July 16, 2014 Notification to presenter(s): July 17, 2014 Conference date: Sunday, July 20, 2014 (12:45pm – 4:30 pm) Venue: 495 Sherbourne Street (Wellesley Community Centre),Toronto, ON Keynote Speaker: Dr. Mahabir Pun, the recipient of 2007 Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership in recognition of his innovative application of wireless computer technology in Nepal, visiting Toronto in the week of July 19th is the keynote speaker of the conference. His visit affords us with a privilege and an opportunity to learn about his expertise and extensive work he did in the application of wireless technologies to connect rural remote villages of Nepal to the global village. His enthusiasm, dedication, devotion and contribution to the community is an incredible inspiration to our youth and Nepalese community, and to all who are working in the field of Science and Technology and Community Services across the globe.
