Dear Oban and district folk! Myself and my brother Andrew are guests of the Oban Music Society tomorrow (Sunday) in St. Johns Cathedral from 3pm and it would be lovely to see some familiar faces there. Our programme will feature a range of both newly composed and ancient Gaelic songs and melodies, many of which are native to Argyll. These range from poignant love songs and work songs to lively waulking songs and ‘mouth-music’ - with plenty of opportunities for audience participation! There will also be a selection of songs in English and my Shruti Box will may even make an appearance… :) Andrew will also offer a brief insight into the life and work of Marjory Kennedy-Fraser, an early 20th century Gaelic song collector, performing a selection of her Gaelic ‘Lieder’ settings and comparing them with their ‘traditional’ source material, in addition to one or two wee solo selections on the piano! Tickets are available on the door from 30 minutes before the concert. Membership of the Society - £15, cost of each concert £5 Cost of Concert for Non Members - £10, no concessions Membership is available at the door. Interval Tea & Biscuits available – voluntary contribution Hope to see you there :) Joy x https://facebook/events/324676104391109/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
