Dear Ones, I want to take time to thank all of you who generously give each year from your heart to my Hay Foundation–hayfoundation.org/. I established The Hay Foundation almost 30 years ago because people wanted to honor me and my work. I have been so blessed to be able to write many books that you have embraced over the years, including You Can Heal Your Life and The Power Is Within You, and even a couple of movies about my journey and my message. When you give to The Hay Foundation, know that we lovingly accept your donation and send it back out to those most in need. Your generosity allows us to encourage and financially support many organizations all year long. If you could follow your generous dollars to these organizations, you’d see that some of them land in the hands of a young child who has cancer, a devoted caregiver who brings meals to a terminal patient, a caring volunteer who runs a rehab center for at-risk teens, an artist who restores dignity among those with Alzheimer’s by teaching them how to paint and a coach who encourages an athlete with a missing limb that he can reach his goal. Throughout these 30 years, I have learned about so many wonderful organizations who dedicate their time to helping others, and it makes me proud when 100 percent of your donations are given directly to the people in need. One of these is The Lionheart Foundation. I met its founder Robin Casarjian through our mutual good friend, Hay House author Joan Borysenko. I was astonished to learn the statistics of how many prisoners were abused as children. So many inner children who need healing. It is a blessing that Robin has designed such helpful programs for them. Robin has also written a powerful guidebook Houses of Healing: A Prisoner’s Guide to Inner Power and Freedom, which your donations have helped to print so it could be distributed free of charge to any mental health counselor, educator, chaplain, administrator, volunteer and prisoner who asks for a copy. This is how we really help the planet. I am happy that the Hay Foundation has been able to lend support to an organization very close to my heart— Mamas Kitchen. These nice people prepare and provide nutritious meals to the men, women and children in San Diego who have AIDS and terminal cancer. This year, one of my deepest wishes is to reach more young people and help teach them how to love themselves. We have begun to publish more books by a new generation of young authors and we also support many organizations that help children and at-risk teens. One of these is Girls Inc., who reminds young girls that they can do anything and empowers them with positive messages about themselves. As many of you know, I also adore animals and want to make sure that they are well cared for. During Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina, The Hay Foundation donated to organizations that have helped evacuate animals from these ravaged regions. We also support a number of animal sanctuaries including Bobbi and the Strays who place many stray and homeless animals in good home and Performing Animal Welfare Society - PAWS—who even rescues elephants! I am so grateful to you, dear ones. Together, we have touched so many lives. If you are involved in an organization interested in being considered for a grant, you can email us at [email protected] with your request. I consider requests once a month. Send me your wish list! Let’s affirm: Working together is part of the purpose of life. I do my best to help make life better for everyone in my world. Love, Louise
