Dear Parent, We had an awesome day today. Again, your child is involved in learning-activities designed to develop good character and empower young people to make good choices for themselves. He is expected to incorporate this training in his daily lifestyle and a change should be noticed. Please remind him of the importance of self-control this week. He is well aware that if someone has the ability to make you angry, then they have control over you. Your cooperation with these activities will support our overall program. Our discussions today were on self-control. We urge you to ask your child about today’s discussions. Here are some things you can do to help your children develop self-control. •As difficult as it may be, resist the urge to yell when you are disciplining your son. Remember you are to model self-control. •Give praise and recognition whenever it is deserved. He needs to hear it. •Be sure to become an open line of communication for your son. Often times a lack of self-control can be the result to a past hurt or failure. Try listening to your son as well •Give criticism without attacking his character. Criticize the behavior, not your son. •Tell them you love him. Say it often. Regards, Alvin Tucker S.W.A.T Boys Academy
