Commercial gym problems - Check out that ROM - range of motion. This is 185. The prior set was 225 - and it was even worse. Are you aware of why we must touch our chest on bench press? Or hit at least parallel on squats? Besides for the fact that not doing so makes you look like a pu$$y? There are lots of reasons, but the two main ones are: 1. Muscle activation. Each piece of the repetition activates a different muscle. Increasing the ROM increases the time under tension (TUT), and it activates a greater number of muscles as a result. Squat shallow? You feel it in your quads only. Squat deep? You feel it in your entire body. 2. To have a standard. If you dont have a standard, you have no way of knowing if you got all your reps or you merely stopped just a bit more short that time. Having a standard range with which you move the bar in each exercise is the only way you can be certain that you are, in fact, progressing in strength over time. Plus, you really dont want to look like this guy. -Jason
