Dear Pete; Me again. I was just wondering about something, Pete and Ill tell you what got me to wondering. You see, Pete Ive spent a good deal of my almost 63 years around politics. Not in politics, Pete, but around in a good citizen sort of way. I dont know why we keep getting called tax payers, Pete because there are only bad taxpayers, as in those that dont pay taxes because they are criminals or corporations. The rest of us pay them because its the law, Pete. (hope you that didnt go over your head, Pete). So, in a good citizen sort of way, I observed and learned a few things. Ive got to say, Pete, that in all my years Ive never seen a group of politicians hang together as tightly as the current mob. In fact the mob mentality seems to have blotted out any critical thinking skills whatsoever. So I got to wondering, Pete, what could cause that. As you are from Langley I am sure that you will recall Mayor George Preston. For the sake of keeping this brief and on point I wont go into what led up to what I am about to tell you. I appreciate that you are a busy man, Pete. My dad was Georges campaign manager and every time there was an all candidates meeting the headlights would be bashed out on George and Dads vehicles. As you know George owned the Cadillac dealership so not so much of a problem but irritating nonetheless. My dad was an executive and drove a company vehicle so there again it was more of an annoyance than anything else. It certainly did not deter either of them, Pete. What is interesting is what I found out years later when unbeknownst to me I went to work where the owner of the company had backed a candidate who was running against George. That candidate was also President of the Social Credit party. (He could not have known how hard my parents and I worked on those campaigns.). Anyway, Pete back to what I found out from my new boss when he found out who my father was. Apparently they worked like crazy, detectives and everything, trying to get some dirt on my dad and George. He told me it didnt matter how deep they dug they could not find one thing. That, Pete, is because there was nothing to find. So their goons bashed headlights instead. Now we are back at your tightly knit circle of MLAs. There are two ways to create a cohesive group. One is a group of knowledgable people come together with a common dream or goal that have the ability to work with others to achieve that dream or goal. The other is a group of people who each have a something they wouldnt want anybody to find out about them hanging over their heads. They operate on hidden agendas and if they are not digging up dirt so they can potentially ruin someones reputation, they are flinging mud in order to dirty someones reputation. So, Pete.......I was simply wondering.
