Dear Professional and Pre-Professional Phase COPHS Students: - TopicsExpress

Dear Professional and Pre-Professional Phase COPHS Students: Believe it or not, there are only 4 weeks left in the fall semester! Over the next 3 weeks, you will be asked to evaluate courses in which you are currently enrolled. As you know, Butler University uses the IDEA course evaluation system. The College has made some modifications to IDEA to make the information gathered from the process more useful. As a result, you may find some variation in how IDEA is utilized from one COPHS course to another. Here are some of the different formats you may find in your courses: 1) Complete the ‘bubble’ portion of IDEA for one of several instructor in a team taught course, and use a Survey Monkey tool that you will access in Moodle to provide written comments about the course and each of the primary instructors. 2) Complete one IDEA form for the lecture portion of the course, and another IDEA form for the lab portion. 3) Complete the same IDEA form for both the lecture and the lab portion of a course. 4) Complete an IDEA form for the lecture portion of the course, with some add-on questions specific to the lab and lab instructor. The ultimate goal of these varied formats is to minimize the number of 47-question IDEA forms completed by any one student in a semester, while still providing students with opportunities to give constructive feedback on the course, lab and lab instructors. Please pay careful attention to your instructor’s directions for each course to assure that you correctly complete the evaluation for that particular course. If you are directed to Moodle for a SurveyMonkey add-on, be sure to pay particular attention to the password that you will need to enter the survey. You can be prepared to complete IDEA evals by having a #2 pencil with you for the remainder of the semester. Courses using Survey Monkey will be evaluated during designated class time, so you will need your computer as well. Faculty who are using Survey Monkey will be asked to make sure students are notified of when they will need their computers. On behalf of the College, thanks for taking time to complete a thoughtful evaluation for your courses/instructors. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you have about the course evaluation process in our college. Laurie L.
