Dear Shelbyville First Baptist Church, Two and a half hours ago we lost our 7 year old son at Light Up Shelbyville. We were living every parent’s worst nightmare! As the minutes ticked by, with no sighting of our son, the tension increased as the Shelbyville Police, EMS, and Fire Department searched diligently for our lost little boy. But what many do not know is that many Shelbyville First Baptist Members were also aiding in the search along with the Police. These Church members came to our aid when we were at our most fragile state. Thirty-five minutes into the all-out-search I received a phone call on my cell phone from a stranger who said they found my son three blocks past the last police barricade on Main Street. (My son later told me that when he turned around and couldn’t see me that he thought he would walk to our car, 8 blocks away, and wait for us there!) Thank you Church family for those who walked from booth to booth looking or our son, for those members who called and verbally spread the word at Light up Shelbyville to begin searching for him, the Church member who literally ran ahead upon hearing that our son was found to be with him and reassure him until I was able to arrive, and for the Church member who walked and assisted me down the many blocks to be reunited with my son. Thanking the Lord that tonight our son sleeps peacefully in bed, much impart to Shelbyville First Baptist Members , the Police, EMS, and the Fire Department of Shelbyville.
