Dear Sir/Ma, This is to inform you that the much anticipated 2nd All Nigerian Universities Debating Championship has been POSTPONED. The postponement became necessary as a result of a memo from the National Universities Commission to the Vice Chancellor of All Nigerian Universities. The memo is as a result of the recent outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria and the advisory issued by the Federal Ministry of Health towards effective containment of the Virus. The NUC advised that clear measures should be taken to prevent its spread within the campuses given the high rate of student and staff mobility. Also, all non-essential travels by staff and students should be discouraged, and visitors identified to have come into the campus from affected areas must be duly screened for the virus before being admitted into the campus. They further advised all Universities to take precautionary measures that will ensure the safety of their communities against this dreaded disease. Consequent upon the above, the Local Organizing Committee at its emergency of Tuesday, 26th August, 2014 unanimously agreed to postpone the competition till further notice. However, registration continues. While thanking you for your understanding, we wish to reiterate our commitment to organize a successful and hitch-free competition. Thank you. Dr. A. K.
