Overnight Thimphu. ACCOMMODATION There are many different types of accommodations available to visitors in Bhutan. There are hundreds of options available ranging from luxurious 5-star resorts to cozy little hotels and home-stays in traditional Bhutanese homes. The types of accommodations can be divided into: 1. Hotels 2. Resorts Additionally visitors embarking on long treks will be provided with tents and whatever other camping equipment is deemed necessary. Regardless of where they stay, visitors can be assured of their comfort and traditional Bhutanese hospitality. Hotels: Bhutan has hundreds of hotels located all across the country. They range from small, simple and clean local hotels to luxurious resorts for affluent travelers seeking the ultimate getaway. Hotels in Bhutan are rated according to a National 5 Star rating System. We provide our guests with a minimum of 3 Star accommodations so you can be assured of your comfort. Most hotels provide their guests with Television, Room Service, Fitness Centers, Spas and Wi-fi. However the exact services available will vary from hotel to hotel. GUEST HOUSE There are various Guesthouses located around the Bhutan. They are graded on the same scale as hotels. The exact services available can vary among Guesthouses. Vehicle: Coaster, Hi-Bus, Santefe and Tucson (Top class Hyundai vehicles) Guide: English speaking guide (experienced) Food: The most distinctive characteristic of Bhutanese cuisine is its spiciness. Chillis are an essential part of nearly every dish and are considered so important that most Bhutanese people would not enjoy a meal that was not spicy. Rice forms the main body of most Bhutanese meals. It is accompanied by one or two side dishes consisting of meat or vegetables. Pork, beef and chicken are the meats that are eaten most often. A wide selection of western and Indian food is also available in many of the restaurants around the country. Visa: All tourists (excluding Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldivian passport holders) who wish to travel to Bhutan require a visa and must book their holiday through a Bhutanese tour operator or one of their international partners. The tour operator will take care of Visa arrangements for visitors. Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals can obtain a visa at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 month validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)). All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior to travel to Bhutan. Visas are processed through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator, directly or through a foreign travel agent. You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your visa. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account. Once received the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours. At your point of entry you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped into your passport. Visa Information BHUTAN VISA & BHUTAN VISA FEE: WHO NEEDS BHUTANESE VISA TO TRAVEL TO BHUTAN? All foreign nationals visiting Bhutan have to obtain Bhutanese visa in advance for traveling to Bhutan. Bhutan visa requirements-visa fee, visa processing procedures,etc are the same for all the foreign nationals. The only exception is Indian nationals as visa is not required for Indians to visit Bhutan. Important Note: No foreign mission abroad grants Bhutanese tourist visa. WHEN & HOW TO GET BHUTANESE VISA: While an actual Bhutanese visa is stamped in your passports at the port of entry (e.g. Paro Airport & Phuntsholing-for travel by road), a prior Bhutan visa for tourists visiting Bhutan is required and it will be arranged by licensed Bhutan tour operators like Reenchen Naaden Tours & Treks in advance. The Bhutan visa is approved by the Tourism Council of Bhutan only after tourists have paid the full Bhutan tour cost and Bhutan visa fee to the Bhutan Tourism Council through one of the Bhutan tour operators or Bhutan travel agencies like Reenchen Naaden Tours and Treks. A copy of Bhutan visa will be sent to the tourists before their travel date as it is important that tourists should know their Bhutanese visa number while boarding Drukair flights to Bhutan. Reenchen Naaden Tours & Trek ensures that Bhutan visa reaches the Drukair office at airports where the tourists board their Drukair flights to Bhutan. The actual Bhutanese visa is stamped in their passports based on this Bhutan visa letter either at Paro airport or at Phuentsholing, Samdrupjongkhar and Gelephug (for travel by land). The Bhutanese tourist visa will be given for a period of their tour in Bhutan as per their Bhutan tour itinerary. Bhutanese tourist visa extensions for tourists can be processed by Bhutan tour operators like Reenchen Naaden Tours & Treks if it is required by tourists which is subject to daily Bhutan tour price and visa extension fee.
