Dear Sir, am Pallavi, 2009 Batch IAS..... passed d exam with TELUGU Medium with 55th rank..... am glad to say that i passed d prelims every time i have written d exam..... i doubt whether i could have done this with d present CSAT..... WHEN THERE IS NO LEVEL PLAYING FIELD IN D EDUCATION SYSTEM HOW CAN WE TALK ABOUT LEVEL PLAYING FIELD IN D UPSC?????????????????????????? English is not necessary for good administration….. what is necessary is understanding of d problems of d down-trodden which is more in d vernacular students than in d English medium students….. D present CSAT exam on d pattern of CAT exam n focusing much on English comprehensions n mathematical skills is good only for CAT n not for UPSC….. earlier Optional paper for prelims is more meaningful testing d logical n analytical n memory powers….. Over weightage given to General Studies is also against d interests of d vernacular students as their exposure to GS is much poor compared to d English medium students….. 300 marks for General Essay is good for Vernacular students….. Hope special Committee understands that we should not talk about level playing field in d exam as long as we don’t have level playing field in d education system….. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Pallavi Akurathi IAS
