Dear Superintendent; When are you going to start expecting more from our kids? I am pissed so pissed right now! Our kids are stabbing each other in the schools. Parents, who can, move and pull their kids from your schools. Why? Because you have let your school district down. You allow children at a young age to not have to step up to a challenge… The state test? Really we can do better than that. Our kids are smart! Let them know that, let them believe that, let them feel that. Challenge them and they will rise to the challenge. Without these challenges these smart children turn to other things to challenge them. Yes you can Superintendent make a difference. The parents who don’t want to play by the rules can leave… the kids who want a chance to be better and make a difference get to stay. Have you been by Spring High School during the day and seen the kids at sonic and burger king during school hours? Why don’t we have a Spring ISD officer there? I couldn’t go to my kids field day but we can have kids coming and going from high school when they please. Parents what are you going to do? How can you make a difference? What change can you bring or be a part of? We cant have God in school fine. We can have non-profits, local business owners, mentoring programs from Elementary on. Stop dumbing down our kids to fit the few non conforming parents. I can change schools. I can afford to move. I can leave, but I also have friends who can’t. I don’t think that is fair to any parent who pays taxes to have to pay for the sub-quality education they get at Spring ISD. I want to make a difference in the school and children’s lives! I trust our kids. I trust our parents. You have not earned my trust. Its time you start having the children rise up… YES Sir You can make a difference. Visit the schools unannounced and see what is going on in the classroom. Are the kids respectful? Require them to be respectful. My heart breaks for the stabbing today… one two three kids… how many does it take? They were gang bangers… Did they start as gang bangers? No sir. If we would have been there along the way to help steer them in elementary, junior raised up their level of expectation… Our public school system is broken. Take notes from successful charter schools such as KIPP or Harmony. They wouldn’t put up with this. And you sir shouldn’t either. If they don’t get on the right/correct path in elementary… then send them to the alternative school. Provide counseling and assistance to the family to help them be responsible. Set a few examples of what is expected and the rest will follow. There are many business owners who would love to work with the student to teach them a trade.
