Dear TLG Diary, Today I stuck my head in the freezer (oven is so yesterday) and pulled out a free range chicken that was bought off a farm some time ago. Greg & I have gone Paleo - so help me I still lust after my instant coffee, white with two in the morning. But I digress (I am SO good at that). The chicken - it served us well. First it was roasted and child 1 & 2 had drumsticks for lunch. Child 3 who is home, sick with some bug, followed me about with large puppy eyes prompting me to constantly say aww and pull her into a bosomy embrace because genetically Im wired to do that, whether I want to or not. Luckily for her I wasnt genetically coded to eat her at birth and if I were - that kid dodged a bullet! Again - digression!! So left over chicken with skin roasted to a nice, southern European tan-like colour, one that could be achieved on the island of Mykonos or Crete or somewhere equally warm, enticing and exotic. I could sacrifice my time in the name of fruit & veg research to sit on a beach and talk shop with the locals. So tell me Spiros Akalopoulopoulopoulos, are your olives local? Your goats, are they mountain free range and are they grass fed? Oh, they are? Mountain grass you say.... Digress, digression, digress. So chicken was shredded and into a soup it went. Must admit, it needed more seasoning, but it was broth like and nourishing and our Paleo brood liked it. Except little Bay. Hes the youngest and makes me melt and I shouldnt have favourites so I dont. He was more interested in watching a DVD on the birth of the cosmos. Then asked me questions about gas and so I told him, You wanna know about gas? Ask your father! (pause) But the chicken. It was good. Love my job!
