Dear TVUSD Parents & Guardians: An incident occurred near Red - TopicsExpress

Dear TVUSD Parents & Guardians: An incident occurred near Red Hawk Elementary School on Friday, October 18th that we want to share with you. Towards the end of the school day, at approximately 12:50 p.m., a group of 5th grade girls were walking around the field when they were approached by a man on the opposite side of the fence. The man spoke to the girls through the fence and encouraged them to come to the other side of the fence where he was. The girls refused and ran back towards campus. School dismissed a short time later, so the girls went home without reporting it to their teacher. Red Hawk Elementary School became aware of the incident yesterday morning and contacted the Temecula Police Department. Detectives are actively investigating this case. The description of the suspect is very similar to a man involved in two child annoyance incidents at Wolf Creek Park on September 30th. The man is described as Hispanic, 20-25 years old, about 5-foot-10, with a thin build, short, slicked-back hair, and a thin mustache and beard. Please review the Child Annoyance Alert posted on the TVUSD web site, which includes a sketch of the suspect. TVUSD.k12.ca.us (under Announcements at the center of the home page) This situation presents a good opportunity to remind your children what they should do if they are approached by a stranger, either on or away from campus. We also ask that you talk to your children about the importance of notifying teachers and/or staff whenever an incident such as this occurs so that we can immediately notify police. If you notice any suspicious activity around your childs school, or have information about seeing this individual near a campus, please contact the Temecula Police Department. Sincerely, The Temecula Valley Unified School District
