Dear Timothy Snyder, in the face of ukrainian secession and massive suffering, without you we would have had a hard time deluding ourselfs with reasuring spin and deflections. This way you helped us excluding our storm-tossed peers in the eastern borderlands from our thoughts and focus on the personified evil in form of Vladimir Putin instead. You spoiled our inability to seperate facts from convinient but fictional claims, so that we could choose to buy into strawmen that supported our (regurgitated) worldview, instead of haveing to irritate the tendentious assumptions which we are deducing our confortable and selfrighteous binary division of the world into good and evil. Thank you for directing our selective attention away from our own missdeeds and stress those commited by the ones we are supposed to despise in order to maintain conformity in the establishment that provides us well. All that is left for us to do now is to repeat your arguments over and over again, as if you are the only person in the world that has any scholary authority on the subject.
