Dear Town of Queen Creek resident, regarding Alternative Expenditure Limitation – “Home Rule”… Please vote YES on Proposition 472 (Maricopa County ballot) Please vote YES on Proposition 401 (Pinal County ballot) As your current Town Council and other civic leaders, we are asking for your help on a critical issue that will be on the August 26, 2014 primary election ballot. A YES vote allows the Town to continue operating under the current Alternative Spending Limitation approved by our residents in 2010. A YES vote allows YOUR Locally Elected Town Council to continue to make budget expenditures according to the needs and desires of the community rather than by a formula set by the State of Arizona. A YES vote does NOT increase taxes! A YES vote still requires the Town to maintain a balanced budget, so it could never spend more than it collects. Unlike the State’s budget, Queen Creek’s is in solid financial condition, partly due to the flexibility we have under home rule. The current and past Council’s have been very careful with the budgetary authority the voter’s have entrusted us with. The Alternative Expenditure Limitation allows the Town of Queen Creek to spend the funds that we collect from property tax, sales tax, and permit fees to provide street improvements, parks, public safety, utilities, and development services. Please join the members of your town council and other civic leaders and Vote YES for extending the Town of Queen Creek’s Alternative Expenditure Limitation – “Home Rule”. Sincerely, Queen Creek Town Council… Gail Barney – Mayor Dawn Oliphant – Vice Mayor Craig Barnes – Council member Robin Benning - Council member Jeff Brown - Council member Jason Gad - Council member Julia Wheatley - Council member Queen Creek Civic Leaders… Wendy Feldman-Kerr – former Mayor Art Sanders – former Mayor Jon Wootten – former Councilmember Lisa Rigler – President, Small Business Alliance AZ Fred Brittingham – Community Volunteer Steve Ingram – Small Business Owner / Planning & Zoning Commissioner
