I havent written about a companion in a while and thought I would - TopicsExpress

I havent written about a companion in a while and thought I would today after reading about an exemplary role model.. Billal ibn Rabah an ethopian slave, known to be one of the greatest men to have walked on the face of this earth. Why? Throughout his life in slavery he endured all kinds of atrocities and would often become unconscious as a result of being subjected to severe torture. After Bilal would regain his consciousness his master Ummayah would often torment him to disown his Lord but the resistant &brave Bilal whos heart had been filled with passion for the Messengerﷺ and Islam, was not negligent even for a moment and repeated the eloquent and permanently effective word “Ahadun Ahad, Ahadun Ahad”. From this we can see what makes his personality most clear and presents him as a model of virtue during the course of history and for all times to come, is his trust in Allah, unwavering faith, remarkable patience, fortitude and most importantly remaining true to Islam his entire life. Bilal lived with the Messengerﷺ witnessing all the battles with him, calling to prayer and observing the rites of this great religion that took him out of darkness to light and from servitude to freedom. The stature of Islam along with the stature of Muslims was elevated. Every day Bilal was getting closer to the heart of the Messengerﷺ, who used to describe him as ‘one of the inhabitants of Paradise.’ Allah honoured Bilal, it is he who had shouted years before while the torture was destroying him, ‘Ahadun ahad. Yet he was chosen by the Messenger that day to be the first muezzin in Islam. With his melodious soul-stirring voice, he filled the hearts with faith and the ears with awe when he called the Adhan. During the passing away of the Messengerﷺ Bilal would be called to recite the adhaan but when he reached “Ash-hadu anna Muhammadur Rasulallah”, he broke down and could not continue. The pain was unbearable. Memories of the beautiful days when the Messengerﷺ was sat amongst him penetrated his heart with agony. The emptiness of his life and his soul without the Messengerﷺ had devastated him and left him broken inside. Even the strongest amongst them who were usually able to suppress the pain could not hold it in any longer. Bilal died in Syria, fighting in the cause of Allah just as he had wanted. Beneath the dust of Damascus, today there lies the body of one of the greatest men of humankind in standing up for the creed of Islam with conviction. So many lessons but Ill leave you with one.. Whenever you are being faced through a hardship always remember Billal and his patience.. For indeed, with hardship will be ease (Quran- 94:5)
