Montgomery County has 17% of the Marylands students, but we receive 12% of the state’s funding. I produced this video in 2009 to explain to our legislators here and in Annapolis the challenges facing our school system. I have also presented testimony before both the House Ways and Means and Appropriations committees about our needs. Our vibrant population of amazing students has grown, along with the urgency to support our students and meet their learning needs at every level. Unfortunately, in the last few years, gaps have grown. I pledge to work with our legislators at all levels to bring that funding back, and use every dollar wisely to support our schools.
