Dear Women-- I, a man, recognize the struggles and issues you deal with every day. The chance of harassment - of all kinds - is significantly higher than men. I get that. And I, a man, hate that. It is NEVER okay for a man to do anything that isnt consensual. It is NEVER okay for a man to lay his hands on a woman. It is NEVER okay to be verbally assaulted about your appearance, etc. I, a man, recognize that it is wrong that a woman has to be on guard and high alert for men in this society. It is stupid that a woman has to keep her drink in her hand to prevent it from being drugged. It is stupid that a woman must walk in groups at night with pepper spray on hand. And yes, it is stupid that a woman cant wear leggings or yoga pants without feeling like they are going to be degraded. So, yes! All women have the right to be mad, angry, frustrated, sad, scared, lost, and confused about the way men treat them. BUT. No, not all men are jerks. Not all men can fend for themselves. Not all men want to get in your pants. Not all men view women as objects. Not all men are just looking to get laid. A LOT of men are looking for love. Looking for a woman to be the princess to their prince. Looking for someone whose personality compliments them perfectly. Looking for someone they can hold and know everything is going to be okay. Not all men think the same. Not all men have thrown in the towel on the respect a woman needs and deserves. And so women everywhere-- I ask that when you are fighting for your voice to be heard, PLEASE please please dont group us all together. We arent the same. Some men reaaaally suck. I get that. Men get that. But, a lot of men are really looking for the same love you are. And finally, I, a man, am apologetic on behalf of all men who have ever made you feel less than human.
