Dear Zane, Im writing you because I know no where else to turn. I need help in finding someone who can assist with delinquent property tax. I am a young widowed mom of 6 receiving social security & have been going back & forth with the county treasurer about my taxes not being the right amount because the county assessor has my home listed $100,000 ABOVE its true value. I was informed today that my attempts at mediation have not affected their.decision to sale my home at auction on 6-9-14 & that I can only keep the house I worked so hard to provide my children with, if I pay $12,400 before then. Ive tried so hard to keep my kids stable since the death of their dad & im terrified of failing them. Any advice at this point will be a Godsend. Thank you, Destroyed Roots Please dont use my name, I dont want pity, I just need direction.... MY RESPONSE: Most counties will allow you to set up a payment plan for back property taxes. It sounds like the issue you are having is disputing the value of your assessment. Maybe you need to accept their assessment and try to work on a payment plan that entails you keeping up with current taxes and paying a little extra each month. That will buy you time to try to get some help to establish that they are wrong. Maybe some others have an idea on my page. I wish you the best.
