Dear Zane, Please keep me anonymous. I have been with my high school sweetheart for almost seven years now. I am madly in love with him & we have a child together. The problem is that during the time we have been together he hasnt evolved as much as me. I have finished college & have always worked. & he is the complete opposite. He has never really held a job (because of his record) and didnt finish college. Im not pressuring him to do as well as me, but now that we have a child i need help. Financially. Im tired of carrying all of the burdens. Also he is constantly with his friends and this causes problems also. I feel like you dont put as much effort in taking care of your family as you do hanging out. He says that he understands and is trying but i just dont see it. He says that i want too much. My question is should I continue to try to work it out? & am I asking for too much out of this relationship? I hope you respond. Thank you. MY RESPONSE: Expecting a man to act like a man is not asking too much. If he has time to hang out (and spend your money hanging out since he has no job), then he has time to take his behind to work. He needs to be doing ANY WORK to make ends meet. You can continue to try to work it out but after seven years, expect more of the same. Good luck but women do this day in and day out and think men will change once they have a child with them. Nope, a man like him only sees the child as competition for the money you are busting your behind to make.
