Dear all, A big thank you to you all for effort throughout P02, - TopicsExpress

Dear all, A big thank you to you all for effort throughout P02, the standard of the work presented was excellent and we have received very complimentary and positive feedback from all the tutors, students higher up the school and from other lecturers. Well done!! P02 was the last of our ‘tooling up’ projects, focusing on establishing teamwork, understanding assessment and developing drawing skills. The design projects from here on form the majority of your portfolio and will draw on all the skills you have learned so far. From the evidence on the wall we are looking forward to some great conversations, creative designs and beautifully presented project work! Hopefully taking part in the review process has made you more aware of the assessment process and how this works. As you are hopefully grasping from first year we have a very different way at university of value judging work, which for many of you may seem a world apart from the type of assessment you may have found yourselves coming through to UWE by. Remember; in the studio you are practicing a creative subject that reunites art and science; academic and practical and encourages divergent thinking! Marking in this context could be seen to be a solely science-based measure of progress and therefore limited. Our environment tries to acknowledge this by operating, where it can, under a different paradigm.....hence briefs, reviews, conversation, team working, debate, portfolio, feedback and the assessment matrix will all provide opportunities for you and us to measure progress and performance as well as understand how to support and respect others in their progress. Going forward, bear in mind the conversations you had during the review and remember to measure your own work against the assessment criteria throughout your projects. Also, remember [as above] that the marks you have received for this project are not as important as the process. Marks are indicative and have not been moderated; all the projects you do will be formally assessed and moderated in the portfolio. You should all have feedback from someone in the review group or through the discussions we had so please think about what you can do to complete your work over the next week. Finally, a few reminders: Make sure you all have copies of lexicon work for your portfolio Please share your digital files within your group… the last thing we want is you to lose the work you have created Those of you who have not received your feedback sheets they are in the racks outside 2R012 (this includes group feedback for Tonia, Sam and Mat Js groups) Remember to check Blackboard for information about the location of our next session on Tuesday 4th November Once again, thank you for your efforts and enjoy reading week!
