Dear all, Im quite pissed off with all of the people who say that Argentina played poorly in this World Cup... But Im actually pissed off about many other things in relation to it. Ill admit Germany was a train that could not be stopped with footballs. Ill say they played better overall. But truth is we had quite a few very good chances of even winning. We deserved to win, but yes, Germany deserved it more. None of the two teams deserved to lose, as many people say. Deserving to lose means their play was not good, and I dont think that was the case for any of the two teams. It would have been if everything would have continued like the first half. But on the second half and on the extra time, it was a wonderful spectacle. Being an expat, every loss hurts a bit more. When you are abroad, the nationalism exacerbates and your hatred increases to levels you didnt deem possible, specially when you are told your country is shit, over and over again. To be told that your country didnt deserve any acknowledgement nor any victories, is not a nice thing to bare. To be told you are from a third world country, straight on your face, is not a nice thing either. To receive comments that could be written like Im sorry you suck so much, with a patronising tone, is like a stab on the back, every single time. Still, I am ashamed for having been affected so much by all this. Back in my country I didnt give a damn about all this. I dont even watch football (not usually, at least). I, obviously, was expecting my team to win. That was not the case, but they have tried very very hard and it was a triumph just because of that. Many others may say your team was rubbish or you just have Messi, but Germany has a TEAM... Well... Why then did we get to the finals? It was not just mere chance. We made it playing better than anybody else, AS A TEAM. We did win against Nederlands very much deserved. Nederlands beat Brazil, getting them in the third position. Our TEAM was composed of very good players. Its always Messi, Messi, Messi, but truth is he didnt have so much part in it. Agüero, Higuaín, di María, Rojo, Lavezzi, Romero, Mascherano, Zabaleta and the rest (for me, the ones mentioned are the most representative ones) deserve the acknowledgement of the whole world. All that has a simple conclusion: We deserve the second place, not just because Germany deserves the first place, but also because we have been better than all of those teams that were, supposedly, better. So, to all of you (except for the Germans), please eat your words. Thank you very much.
