The truth as I understand it though, is that Jesus wouldn’t have spoken an ill word against the poor, much less do anything that harms them in a negative way. How can people who proclaim to follow the teachings of the man who washed the feet of the poor as a sign that he was no better than they advocate economic policies that keep widening the gap between the haves and the have nots to the point that working two or even three minimum wage jobs will simply not be enough? How can a group of people who profess to love Jesus — a man who according to legend fed all the hungry masses he could with a little Holy Magic — keep insisting on a farm bill that drastically cuts food assistance?
