Dear colleagues, The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has reissued a call for applications for the vacancy at the Embassy of the position of Policy Officer Public Administration and Economic Policies. Below is a brief description. Please feel free to circulate this call widely. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands represents the Netherlands Government in the United Republic of Tanzania and the EAC, as well as in the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Madagascar and the Republic of Mauritius. Core tasks of the Embassy are maintaining good bilateral relations, politically, diplomatically and economically, as well as political reporting on internal and external developments, promoting economic cooperation and development, and handling consular affairs. In Tanzania, in its work to promote economic development and cooperation, the Embassy focuses particularly on a number of areas which have high potential for (inclusive) growth in Tanzania and on which the Netherlands government, Dutch educational and research institutes and businesses have specific expertise and experience. These areas are agriculture and specifically horticulture, energy and specifically the gas sector, financial services and infrastructure. The Embassy wishes to recruit a full-time Policy Officer Public Administration and Economic Policies who will help inform the Embassy of relevant political and policy developments with an eye to the above tasks and focus. A. This Policy Officer for Public Administration and Economic Policies is responsible for advising the Embassy staff on political developments in the United Republic of Tanzania as well as on issues related to human rights and media. He/she will focus specifically on political and policy developments of immediate relevance to economic development in general, and to the fields of - the business and investment climate - the legal and administrative framework for the energy sector - foreign direct investment in particular B. Minimum Requirements The individual must: - Hold the Tanzanian nationality; - Hold a degree from a recognized university; - Have at least five years professional experience in relevant fields; - Be fluent in English and Swahili in writing and speaking; - Be familiar with standard software packages; - Be able and willing to regularly travel throughout the United Republic of Tanzania as well as to Europe; - Be available for full-time employment. C. Furthermore, the following characteristics and capacities will be highly rated in candidates: - Candidate avails of a strong and broad network and has the ability to elaborate this; - Candidate has ability to analyze developments; - Candidate has ability to write comprehensive reports and give clear oral presentations; - Candidate has ability to liaise effectively with counterparts in political, administrative, journalistic and non-governmental circles; - Candidate has ability to work in a team; - Candidate is dynamic and eager to develop him/herself further; - Candidate has ability to identify issues, formulate and defend opinions and offer advice. D.
