Dear fellow members of the MSU, Let me start by stating that I have not received a single grievance from within Congress or from the Student Body regarding my demeanour over my two years at Marianopolis College. As your president I have fought time and time again to realize your needs and desires. I have abided by my mandate and fulfilled all of my campaign promises; raising club budgets, increasing the humanitarian trip budget, creating a sports team fund, improving the STM bus schedule, implementing more free food events, and even fighting against the Charter of Values. As such, I was surprised to learn that a selected few individuals sought to impeach me. Clearly, it is very easy for a small minority of individuals to upset College life by pursuing a political agenda. Following the recent elections for next year’s President and Vice-President an independent and unbiased Review Board was called due to the constitution not being followed during elections and as a result of the Review Board there was a recount of the votes which led to a new President-elect and Vice-President-elect. I strongly supported this review process because it is imperative that your constitution is followed. Should the student body believe the constitution needs amending then I encourage you to attend the upcoming AGM on April 29th. It is simply not acceptable for individuals to attempt to ignore the constitution to meet their own ends. Unfortunately, there are some candidates who are refusing to accept the Review Board’s decision and have acted dishonorably towards other members of the Union by slandering them; myself included having been called a “scheming shepherd”. Additionally, some individuals who are unhappy with the Review Board’s process have commenced a proceeding to impeach me. The charges are groundless and I have acted in good faith throughout. Thus, this is obviously a personal attack against me, whereby the implicated parties are out for blood and do not seek any real change, considering that they have waited until the end of year where there are only a couple of school weeks left. Unfortunately the Impeachment Review Board only publically asked for submissions yesterday at 5:00pm and those submissions have to be received by 6:00pm today. This makes it difficult to ensure that a fair and open review takes place. Regardless, I will be aggressively campaigning against the impeachment process and call on you all to aid me overcome these arbitrary claims, so that I can get back to serving you and planning what will surely be a great end of year- one that provides peace of mind for students, filled with fun events/parties, and of course free food. Faithfully yours, Mackenzie Anderson MSU President Ps: I welcome the opportunity to expand on the facts should anyone require specifics on the grievances filed against me and thus I encourage you to direct your questions or input to the Review Board at [email protected]
