Dear friends, as the hotter weather approaches ( let me dream, ok) - TopicsExpress

Dear friends, as the hotter weather approaches ( let me dream, ok) I wanted to share a story with you that may help to save you from scarring. Let me explain. I was I the Dominican Republic last year at a dear friends wedding. During our stay I noticed two red/brown burn like marks on my upper thigh. They didnt hurt, but they looked like what a curling iron burn turns into to (calling all my female friends for the 80s and 90s). Over the course of a few weeks it became darker and had a rough texture to it. I finally went to the Dr. And he was as confused as I was. He was surprised I had not burned myself so we chalked it up to brushing up against some coral or a strange plant I had a reaction to. 6 months in with not a whole lot of change got me to doing my own investigating. Little did I know, but it was a burn. A burn from a lime/lime juice. Who knew? Lime juice can burn and scar. Apparently lime and a few other culprits can erase all the pigment from you skin leaving it exposed as if our have no pigment. Couple this with the fact that I have been, ahem, blessed with alabaster skin it makes for a disastrous combination. As I lay here in the bathtub soaking with iPad in hand, looking at my leg, it inspired me to share my story. I know, an iPad inches from the water may not be smart, but Im a professional. :) Go and read about lime burns. Im amazed about so many things I didnt know. This is not the way I wanted to find out about it, but hopefully this will keep you from playing with limes in the sun. :) happy Sunday
