Dear friends, brothers and sisters in scouting! The Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan is pleased to invite you to take a part in the International Camp – “Wonderland 2014” to be held in Lerik region of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 10-17 July 2014. Short info: First Wonderland camp was organized in 2013 in Sheki, Azerbaijan and became traditional annual international scout camp organized by the Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan. This time we decided to pitch our tents in the South part of Azerbaijan. Lerik is another beautiful region of Azerbaijan. It is located in the chain of the Talysh mountains close to the borders with Iran. The camp site is located on the bank of Lankaran river (38.801928, 48.514467) close to Lankaran city, which was the capital of Lankaran Khanate and surrounded by beautiful mountains. In addition to the unique nature of this region the unique culture and ancient history makes it famous. It is assumed that the men of the Stone Age lived in the caves found here. There are numerous historical monuments in the region. Khoja Seyed mausoleum in the village of Khoja abode (XIV century), Lulakaran village mosque (XIX century), Mistan village, ancient habitation located in Qızyurdu site, 2438 m above sea level, village of Tomb of Baba Isa in the Mondigah, Pir Yusif Mausoleum near the village of Kekonu, Jabir mausoleum located on the road from Lerik to Jangamiran village of (XII - XIV centuries), etc. The climate is subtropical. Dates: The camp will consist of two parts: * 10 – 17 July Tent camp in Lerik region * 03 July - arrival of STAFF to the camp site Age: Participants : 15 – 18 years old. STAFF Volunteers: 18+ Accomodation: The Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan will provide tents during the camp and hiking. Home Hospitality: Available upon request after and before the event (sightseeing in Baku, swimming in the Caspian Sea and introduction to delicious Azerbaijani cuisine) Fees: 50 euros (includes internal transportation, t-shirts, badge, meals during the event) NOTE: We need copies of your passports in advance for arranging the issue of entry VISAS AT THE AIRPORT. (for those who need a visa to Azerbaijan) Activities: Pioneering, Activities on river, orienteering, Archery, hiking to the medieval village, sport games, Horse riding, Obstacles Course, Visit to the museum of Long-Livers, “Wonders of Lankaran” – city tour and many other activities.
