Dear friends & entrepreneurial spirits!!! My landlord who owns this beautiful building in Greenport, proprietor of Burtons Book Store is ready to retire. 34 years is a long time. I think every charming village needs a book store, but the industry has changed. Now you can download books on kindle & what not. I still love a good book! I like the feel of the paper between my fingers. I love the anticipation of seeing how close you are to the end of a story based on the creases in the binding! So for any enthusiastic lover of books who has a passion for owning their own business..here is your shot! And lets not forget that I am right next door!! YAY! What would I love to see? a nicely decorated reading lounge that serves tea, coffee & biscuits & Wi-fi Books on the history of the area, the farms & the bays, books on food, books on mind-body-spirit, books on art, a great childrens section (with story time) & of course NY Times best sellers.
