Dear friends, it is so wonderful and at the same time we are at war, a war that is waging behind the scenes of visibility. There a battle is taking place. The question is: will the free human being be able, be allowed, to keep the forces of his childhood and work on them and use them throughout his lifetime? In a lecture given by Rudolf Steiner before he was no longer allowed to speak because of National Socialism, at this last occasion he gave his listeners a verse — a verse which is still very relevant today: To bind one’s soul to matter, is to grind souls to dust. To find oneself in the spirit, is to unite human beings. To behold oneself in the human being, is to build worlds. This is our task, one that we can take up, and one we can do better and better each day.
