Dear friends, the message in this post may help you to assist your study for NET. It was written earlier on adichemistry community members of facebook and was written in three parts. All the three parts have been combined together for your kind perusal. You can use it if you want. This was written after NET result was declared, so first part was for supporting students who failed NET exam. WHY DO WE FAIL IN NET IN SPITE OF LOT OF HARD (PART I): Good evening to all. The NET result was finally declared and probably CSIR made a record by delaying result to such a extent that those who have failed are left with few days for preparation for next NET exam. There was quite good number of students who cleared NET this time as seen from adichemistry posts. At the same side there was a big number who could not clear NET this time. I received large number of calls saying that they could not clear NET in spite of very hard work. I felt sad to hear that many of these students were studying from last so many years. I saluted their commitment because I believe that these students really are winners as I know that winers never quit. I was taught that self recognition is first step towards success and when I thought of all these people who failed in spite of hard work, I thought that they are the people who have recognized themselves since they believe that one day they will do it. I obviuosally call them BRAVEHEART. In last exam, a student of mine failed NET by few marks and he was disappointed due to that. He was too nervous and thought of quiting these exams. When he said me idea of quitting the exams, I remembered a sisterly student of mine “Neha Patil” who is in my friends list on facebook. She did lot of hard work for couple of years and in spite of trying very hard from every aspect, she could not clear NET in Life Science. One day she called me and said that she wont be able to clear NET AS SHE HAS GIVEN HER BEST and therefore decided to stop appearing for these exams. I was nervous about her decision as I knew that she was going to clear NET some day as she was very brilliant. I replied her saying that if she has such a feeling means that she is about to clear NET. This is because I knew that such a feeling is indication of clearing NET in next attempt. I said her that if she sticks to her study for couple of months, she will definitely clear NET. I said her that if any good thing is about to happen, evil thoughts capture our mind and try to deviate us from our goal. Many a times we become victim of these evil thougths. I said her not to allow evil thoughts to take charge of her mind. She agreed and did her study. She cleared NET in her next attempt. I appeal to all theose students who are depressed because of failing NET in spite of studying hard to stick on to their studies. Their time has come. All of them are going to clear NET. Next few days, work hard. Give your best. Study so hard that whenever you remember of your best performance, you remember this one months span of study. Only study for next 40 days. Nothing else, Sacrifice everything. Friends, Parents, TV, Social networking every thing for these 40 days. Best of Luck. I know that you all are going to clear NET in next exam because when you have worst time going on, it means that best time is ahead. WHY WE FAIL IN NET INSPITE OF HARD WORK (PART II BEING OPTIMISTIC): Hi to all. Thank you very much for your response to part I. As promised, I am here with part II of our discussion. The discussion regarding why we fail NET in spite of hard work. As discussed in the last post, I received large number of calls from number of students who failed in the NET exam. They all told me the common problem. The problem with most of them was that they have got failure in spite of studying very hard. Many of them said me that they are studying very hard from last so many years but in spite of that they are unable to clear NET. I personally believe that if you are studying hard from more than one year and in spite of that you are not able to clear NET then there is more likely that there is a problem somewhere. Its necessary to check where the problem is? I am not an expert or doctor to tell you where actually your problem is? But having cleared NET/SET 10 times consecutively, I can suggest you to use following questionary? It may probably help you to find your problem in clearing NET. The first question that you should ask yourself is: Q. 1) What is your attitude towards looking at life? A) Optimistic or B) Pessimistic If answer is optimistic, then you are definitely going to clear NET in next attempt. This is because optimistic people believe that “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” The problem with Pessimistic people is that they are negative towards any thing in the life. There is a phrase in English that “I never saw a pessimistic general win a battle”. Thus we need to be optimistic towards life as well as NET. One of my student who did lot of hard work for NET met me just before entering into NET exam hall. When I asked him about his possible performance in the NET which was going to start just after half an hour, he nodded his head saying no. He said “I wont be able to clear NET”. When I asked him why he feels like that, he replied saying that “He could not complete his study satisfactory”. He wanted my blessings and thus said me to pray for his success. I gave him blessings but in mind I said that not me but even god cant help you to clear NET. I felt pity at the fellow since I have read book SECRET which is all about Law of attraction. The book says that there is something called as universal energy whose work is to fulfil your every wish. The hypothesis of the book is that if you bring any thought in mind no matter whether positive or negative, the work of Universal energy is to help you achieving that. This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. One example used by a proponent of the law of attraction is that if a person opened an envelope expecting to see a bill, then the law of attraction would confirm those thoughts and contain a bill when opened. A person who decided to instead expect a cheque might, under the same law, find a cheque instead of a bill. Strange to believe but it really works. I have used this method and seen miracles happening in my life. Now let us see how this law worked on my student. When he said “I wont be able to clear NET”, the thought went to universal energy and universal energy got a message that the fellow wants to fail in the exam and thus universal energy said तथास्तु. The energy started doing its working in such a manner that the student fails in the exam. I don’t know how was the performance of that student in exam but I received a call from him after couple of months saying that he has failed in the exam. Initially, when Ph. D. student of mine (named Sharan Khanapure, who is there in my friends list on facebook) told me about book called secret and the hypothesis, I thought he was joking. I thought How can any body make things to happen as per his thoughts? I did not believed him. I was very much pessimistic in my life. My day use to start with negative thoughts in the early morning and use to end with negative thoughts in the night. I thought why not to try the secret book formula once. I thought of changing myself. I thought of trying secret formula. I changed my thoughts. I tried to bring positive thoughts in mind. Initially it was difficult because my mind was used to negative thoughts for 35 years. How could it change suddenly? But when I tried thinking positively, I was surprised to see positive results in my life. All things started happening as per my thoughts. I came to know that I got lot of negative results so many times in my life because of my negative thoughts. I have seen most people filled with negative thoughts and negative emotions. These people have always got negative results in their life because there thoughts have turned into reality. One day I decided to use this formula on students appearing for NET exam. I told them to start thinking that they have cleared NET right form their preparation days. Some of the students argued that nothing will happen because of this. But when I forced them to do so, they thought that they have done so much for clearing NET why not to try this formula. I did experiments with few students. They started imagining that they have cleared NET. When they agreed of imagining, I told that only imagining will never help, they will have to feel that happiness within while they are imagining that they have cleared NET (Manifestation). They agreed for that also as They were ready to do any thing for clearing NET. The miracle happened. When they went to the exam, they were asked most of the questions from the books which they have read. They were happy with their performance. When the result was declared, almost all of the cleared NET. Thus, I believe that being positive will help you to achieve anything in life. Thus lets try be positive from today. Its said “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.” Thus lets change our thinking style from today. Don’t ever allow negative thoughts to come in your mind. Think positively at everything, at every moment even if u feel that its impossible. You will find impossible things becoming possible. I think this approach will help us to make our life successful. Soon, I will let u know about them. WHY WE FAIL IN NET INSPITE OF HARD WORK (LAST PART; SMART STUDY): Good evening. Thanks for your interest in recent post on Adichemistry. In this last post, I wish to tell you the study method I used due to which I could clear NET/SET together for 20 times. I have noticed one thing in last 15 years of NET counselling that 50 % of students who fail NET have are very serious hard workers. At the same time, it was surprising to observe that 50 % of students who clear NET have never studied very seriously. This sometimes make me to conclude that hard study wont help to clear NET. I and a journalist friend of mine were writing an article regarding NET/SET preparation. Once the article was prepared, we were thinking of appropriate title to article. After a long thinking, we decided to give title as “For clearing NET: Study smart and not hard”. I just wanted to share the information given in that article. As article was in my mother tongue Marathi and many of adichemistry members are not from Maharashtra, I cant upload it. You will agree with me that you might have seen many such people who have cleared NET looking at whom you feel “I don’t believe that this fellow cleared it. He was very ordinary and was never a hard worker”. I have seen many of such people. If you ask me what is the ultimate thing required for clearing NET. I will rank Reasoning Ability at foremost position. I always believe that clearing NET exam requires a good reasoning ability and taught the same thing to thousands of people who came to me for NET guidance. Clearing NET is all about good reasoning ability. Some people have very good reasoning ability in spite of having less knowledge. These people are able to clear NET. While some people have very deep knowledge, but unfortunately they don’t have good reasoning ability and thus struggle to clear NET. If you don’t agree with this then consider this: 70 % of questions asked in NET are such that we have never seen them earlier in our life. They are very tough and require very serious thinking from all angles. The students with good reasoning ability some how manage to solve such questions. On the contrary, there are only 30 % questions which are of simple level and with which we are familiar. Majority of students are able to solve such examples as they are straightforward and does not require a good reasoning ability. Solving these much questions never helps us to achieve the cut off. Thus we can say that good reasoning ability helps to clear NET. Some students asked me regarding how to develop good thinking ability. I always believe that its not a by born ability. It can be developed. There is a straight forward method to develop it. Gain the sufficient knowledge through hard work and then solve as many questions as you can. Solving thousands of MCQs of good standard will obviously helps to boost reasoning ability. Gaining knowledge and solving thousands of MCQs is a smart work. When I asked many NET aspirants at NET exam center about number of MCQs that they have solved, the reply was nil from many, and few 100s from remaining. We need to understand practice makes man perfect and thus practicing large number of MCQs will obviously will help to develop good reasoning ability. However, it must be noted that you cant solve MCQs without having sufficient basic knowledge. I will be discussing on both the things now. How to study chemistry part and solve MCQs? Study method: The routine study method of many of NET aspirants is orthodox. They take books and start reading them from first page to last page randomly. This is a non directional study. We can gain the knowledge by this method but it is difficult to clear NET by this method. The first thing that we should do is: go for systematic study. We should always keep the syllabus aside and start reading books by reading index. This will help us to gain exact knowledge about specific things in the syllabus. The most important thing that must be noted is that majority of questions in NET are strictly adhering to syllabus. Thus we must strictly study as per the syllabus. Second most important thing is “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Most of us don’t have plan of study. There is no target for the day. Planning helps to complete study in targeted time. For example, If I have decided to study 20 topics and If I have 30 days, I must understand that I have 1.5 day per topic and thus any how I must manage to finish it in that much span of time. I have seen people reading a single topic for a months. The most important question people ask is how many days are required to clear NET. There is no answer to this question as I have seen people clearing NET in a weeks time, in a months time, in a years time and even seen many people who haven’t cleared NET in spite of studying for 7 years. But I know surely, even one month can help to people who believe in themselves. I know that all of believe in yourself and also you have one month and thus its not going to be difficult task. Before planning your studies, you must know that most of us make a big mistake by choosing wrong topics. People from organic study only organic while those from inorganic study only inorganic and same is the case with physical chemistry people. I believe that at this point of time, you must chose two specializations for clearing NET as studying topics from only one specialization makes it difficult to clear NET though many extraordinary students have done this. Thus, it will be easy to pass if we study topics from two specializations. Once you choose topics, next important thing that you should do is see the sort of questions asked on each topic in earlier exams. This helps us to understand the direction and depth of our study. The questions asked in NET are application based. Majority of them are beyond our expectations. This is because of exam system we had till now. We are used to words like write a note on, explain, describe, elaborate in the exams that we have faced till M. Sc. We are used for such type of questions and till M. Sc. We know only one thing. More supplements to answer books, more marks. This study method does not work for NET because most of questions in NET are application based. I have seen one NET aspirant who was telling me about VBT of coordination compounds. He was so expert in VBT that he explained me the theory so nicely that he even told me the family background of the scientist who gave VBT and even told the name of his girlfriend. I had never seen the person with such a deep knowledge on VBT. But when I asked him about geometry of [CuCl6]-3, he could not tell it. Meaning that, many a times we are so good at theory but very weak at application based. Thus having a look at questions asked in previous exams will help you in preparation. Once you see questions, start your study. This will help you to focus on most important things. Use standard reference books for studying each topic. Having good study material is another most important thing for clearing NET. Some people rely on UPKAR book and some even on their seniors notes who have never cleared NET. We need to have good books. Spend few thousands on buying good books. I always suggested people to invest few thousand rupees for buying good study material. Its not a bad deal. Spending few thousands to make life prosperous. I will soon upload list of good books for NET preparation. We have to gain basic knowledge by this method. Some people ask me, will it be possible to gather knowledge about topics from two specializations by this method in a months time. Remember, we have spent our complete life so far in studying chemistry. Do we need to study still more to learn chemistry? Remember, our maturity level at this point of time is very high and the syllabus of NET had been already studied by us till M. Sc.. Its time for quick revision and go for applicative parts. While reading books don’t forget to solve exercise. Once you study, there is a time to solve good questions and MCQs. Aditya has prepared questions of high standard and I strongly suggest you to use them. Sometimes, when I think of this guy, I feel that he is angel sent by god for helping all of us for clearing NET. I have never seen the questions of so high standard as they are in his notes. I suggest you to go for them. As per as MCQs are concerned, I will upload a question bank of 2500 MCQs soon before 25th. Solve them also. While solving each question, think of method to find answer to the. I am sure that this will help you to gain reason ability. Chemistry cant be remembered without revision. After every hour, give 10 minutes to quickly revise what you have read in last hour. At night, before you sleep, revise what you have read till the day. And at Sunday, read what you have read in week. This will help u to remember things. I hope this will help you. I and Aditya are going to help you to do this. Trust in us and believe in yourself. We will do our best to help you and you must know that all of you are going to clear NET as God is onto your side this time and I know one thing that if he is onto your side nothing can stop you from clearing NET. Believe in yourself and Trust in almighty. Apply so many efforts that even god should be surprised at your efforts. Don’t discriminate day and night. Probably you may have to spend 24 hours of day in studying.
