Dearest Friends, Cecile will share her photos of the robins as soon as she has a chance. Errol asked me to write you the following: Dear Prayer Group, Thank you for all the good wishes and compliments concerning the maternity ward in our little court yard! One little robin survived and he is such a joy to us. Little Junior makes us laugh; the way he peeks at us from the plants he hides himself in, firmly believing that NOBODY can see HIM, is really funny! The parents are still feeding him, but he does not make parenthood a joy to them. Talk about fastidiousness! Mom and Dad often have to run after him with the food they so desperately want him to eat. All the wasted food leaves the court yard in a proper mess every day. When I noticed that the mother wanted to reline the nest for her next lot of eggs, I made it clear to her that she will have to move house. Yes, it made me feel like a dog; but FIFTEEN of my precious bromeliads took a bad hammering during the past month as watering or moving them would have endangered the nest and babies. The tantrum she threw really was something to see! She literally hurled the coconut hair in her bill onto a tree stump and UP went her little tail! Ruffled feathers and angry shrieks and squeals followed. I am positive I understood every word : I secured myself prime real estate with a view of the baby proofed waterfall... and dont you forget my mansion was surrounded by luscious scented orchids! Added to that I had an armed guard (MY gardener) AND 24/7 surveillance! Oh, and I havent even mentioned the 24 hour free catering service yet! She meant all the birdie nam-nam provided by ME! WOMEN!!! I had a calabash put up at a safe distance from my plants and, as always, provided a whole array of building and lining materials: coconut hair, down etc. - all free of charge. She can pick and choose. If it is good enough for the little dame, she is welcome to have all of her future broods in our court yard with all of its fringe benefits - tax free! Thank you for all of your loving thoughts, good wishes and consistent prayers. Love, Errol.
