Deaths in Antrim Hospital have increased however we were told we were going to get a service that could handle the demand and give us better outcomes. We have seen some cases locally where stillbirths could of been avoided, this is the first part of a larger paper I will be doing to highlight deaths. The Northern Trust has the highest amount of still births and I know that this is a province wide problem. Some of these are under investigation due to A&E pressures. Since they shut the Maternity at Mid Ulster they also shut more beds in Antrim maternity and are currently about to open a new neo-natal ward that does not meet RQIA standards to protect these babies from infection outbreaks. The Health Minister and political parties know this but I think its time to refresh their memories. I will have more on this next week.
