Debbie Devine got me thinking about world conflicts in terms of smaller instances of violence. If I hear my neighbour violently abusing other family members in their home, & I know that there are children & others who are vulnerable in the house, I do not set the house on fire to "protect" those being harmed in the house. I have two choices: I can gather the resources needed to go in & seize the abuser who will be tried for the abuse and/or I offer a safe place that provides what is needed for all of those being harmed & threatened in the house. I do not ignore the problem, but neither do I take action that may further harm the victims of violence. ~Oriah
