But...Nancy, Nancy, Nancy! Tsk, tsk! What about these comments? It takes 36 hours for ticks to transmit Lyme infection. And, ...in some people, symptoms remain long after the infection is gone? First, there is published evidence indicating ticks may sometimes transmit Lyme in under 24 hours. Next, theres no evidence that proves that the infection is gone in these patients with ongoing symptoms, in fact, theres plenty to suggest that the infection is NOT cleared and that Lyme disease may become chronic in some people. Were grateful for the coverage about Lyme disease, but really, reporters need to do their homework better. Its getting a little embarrassing when patients know the science better than reporters and some medical providers, isnt it?
