Dec 4th, 2014 Hello everyone, hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time at my sisters with all the fixins, hugs and games. It was a full busy house but filled with great smells and laughter. Im so happy we were able to be together again. This month has been kind of rough for Jon. He had a great trip with a good friend to Chicago for a gaming get together. Sounds like he had a very good time. He came home quite tired, as expected, and started his week of chemotherapy the day of his return. He spent most of the week in bed and unfortunately had chemo stomach issues the next weekend. He came back feeling good the following week, recovered nicely putting in a busy day at the pantry. This past week, however, he complained of a strange feeling in the left side of his face. He was having trouble moving his facial muscles, giving him a crooked smile and an asymmetric blink. Dr Tran started him on steroids again and an antiviral as he felt it was Bells Palsy, a temporary weakness or paralysis of the face, thought to be viral. He also wanted Jon to have a CT scan the next day to make sure it wasnt being caused by something more concerning. Nothing of immediate concern was found, so we were able to travel afterward to go to Thanksgiving with the cousins in Springfield, Mo. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, lots of amazing treats and visiting with family and a some fun games. This week began with his monthly labs and routine MRI, done every two months, followed a couple days later by his oncologist appointment for results. The appointment was short as there was very little to talk about. Thankfully, his MRI continues to show no residual or new tumor growth. His blood counts are still adequate allowing him to take his next monthly coarse of chemotherapy, scheduled to begin next week. This is his 10th monthly cycle on this chemo and it sounds like he will continue on it until his 12th coarse. He will then get a break from treatment, if all continues to remain stable. He will still follow with the vaccine clinical trial, the next booster due after the first of the year, and continue it for about two more years with the time between each booster extending longer. Again we are very relieved and thankful for this continued calm. A very merry and loving Christmas to you all. My next update will be after the first of the year so Happy New Year as well. Once again, thanks to all for the love and prayer support. It makes getting through this easier knowing you are there ~ nanb
