We are taught the difference in Romans 8 between the sinful nature we battle and living with the power of the Holy Spirit that God gives us a believers. Paul goes on to remind us that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. It is clear that Jesus understands despair and heartache because all you have to do is look to the Garden and listen to him as he prayed. We know Jesus understands physical pain because we know of the beatings and the crucifixion. We know that Jesus was faithful to come to save us through the atoning blood of his sacrifice. I know Jesus came to save because I am one small example of that grace. I also know that we sometimes find ourselves in a valley of despair. Those deep dark valleys can make you feel abandoned, isolated and suffering with emotional and physical pain. But God gave me the promise that I would NEVER be alone. So the truth today is that when I find myself lost in that valley, I will stand on God’s promise. When I have prayed until there are no more words, I will fall on my knees and let the Spirit intercede on my behalf. Verse of the Day: Romans 8:26 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pay for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
